Wendell's focus is trial work: jury trials, court trials,
arbitration and regulatory proceedings. He has been trying
cases in Maine for more than 25 years. He has also been admitted
as a visiting lawyer in five additional states where his clients
have had specific litigation pending.
He has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College
of Trial Lawyers. He has also been elected to the American
Board of Trial Advocates, and has been certified as a Civil
Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He
has served on the Civil Justice Advisory Committee for the
U.S. District Court in Maine as well as the governing boards
of the Maine State Bar Association and the Maine Trial Lawyers
Association. He is the President Elect of the Maine State
Bar Association for 2005 and will be President in 2006.
For a number of years Wendell has served as lead trial counsel
for one of Maine's largest publicly held corporations. His
cases include the defense of professional liability claims
(medical and non-medical), the defense of product liability
claims, the defense of commercial transportation claims, the
defense of construction claims, and the prosecution and defense
of large exposure personal injury claims.
Wendell has taken an interest in teaching trial advocacy
and has attended teacher training through the National Institute
of Trial Advocacy. He has twice served as visiting faculty
for the Winter Trial Advocacy Workshop at the Harvard Law
School. He has most recently served as the Co-Director of
the Maine College of Trial Advocacy put on by the Maine Trial
Lawyers Association.
Wendell is a 1978 graduate from the University of Virginia
School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree, with
honors, in 1975 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill.
Outside of work, Wendell has been active in Portland Trails,
a non-profit organization which is developing a 30 mile network
of walking and biking trails around greater Portland.
