Tom was born in Mineola, New York on July 24, 1960. He received his undergraduate degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine and his master of arts degree from Columbia University. He earned his law degree in 1992, cum laude, from Boston College, where he was an executive editor of the Boston College Environmental Affairs Law Review. Tom's practice includes a diverse array of litigation including; insurance defence, personal injury, products liability, commercial litigation and collections.
Tom also has a domestic relations practice.

Tom is kept quite busy in his spare time raising two young daughters and enjoying Maine's outdoors.
