Who We Are

First and foremost, we are trial lawyers. The lawyers at RWLB have taken hundreds of cases to trial. We believe our success rate in the courtroom is unmatched. Winning trials is only half the story. We take pride in completing cases within a budget. Furthermore, we recognize that nine out of ten lawsuits will be settled short of a verdict. We make a point of identifying at an early stage those cases which should be resolved in summary fashion or by alternative dispute resolution, to avoid unnecessary litigation costs.

Our goal: not just to win for our clients, but to win as quickly as possible, at the lowest possible cost.

In Portland, we have nine lawyers and two paralegals; in Bangor, four lawyers and one paralegal. Among them, our four senior attorneys alone have more than 100 years of trial experience. Our firm is licensed to practice in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York. In other states, we associate with local counsel when trying cases. Our size and collective experience enable us to handle the most complicated matters.

In overall size, the firm is small. This has helped us to establish strong personal relationships with our clients, some tracing back more than thirty years. Both our lawyers and our staff - most of whom have been with us for many years-take pride in responding quickly and effectively to our clients' needs.

Who We Represent

At any given time, RWLB represents hundreds of individuals and businesses in pending litigation. The firm's clients include small family businesses, local Maine companies, and some of the world's largest multinational corporations. A list of our clients spans all sectors of the economy: automakers, construction contractors, retailers, electric utilities, law firms, paper companies, lending institutions, supermarkets, doctors, consumer product manufacturers, insurance agencies, municipalities, and persons from all walks of life.

RWLB is widely known as a defense firm because we handle a large and diverse volume of litigation for more than thirty insurance companies and many large, self-insured corporations. Subject to certain criteria, the firm also represents individual and corporate clients as plaintiffs. We are experienced in working with our clients to set goals and budgets for each case. We are accustomed to satisfying our clients' particular needs, ranging from special reporting requirements to electronic communication.
